Clinton's Walk
From the west to the east,
he headed into the sun, at
times thirsty, sore, but never
deterred
He pressed onward,
convinced his cause was
just, knowing in his heart the
difficulty of the challenge,
presenting his raw spirit to
closed, cold minds... how
to open them?
Will this walk, blistered,
swollen, frustrated by
mechanical problems, will
this walk, revelatory, ecstatic,
linking a scattered nation
across the land, will this trek
for justice, supported by so
many, will it awaken those
in power, who seem
unmoved by the nation's
historic, ongoing travails; is
there is no end to this journey?
